UA track begins '97 at All-Comers

The Arizona men's and women's track and field teams open their seasons at the annual All-Comers Meet at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Roy P. Drachman Stadium.

In addition to the Wildcats, teams from Arizona State, New Mexico State and from most of the junior colleges in Arizona will compete.

There will also be an "unattached" category for high schoolers and members of the general public who wish to compete in the open division. The cost is $5 per person and enables the person to compete in as many events as they wish.

Returning to the Wildcats this season on the men's side are Olympians Dominic Johnson and Chima Ugwu. Johnson, a junior, competed in the pole vault for St. Lucia, while Ugwu, a senior, competed in the shot-put for his native Nigeria.

1996 NCAA Cross Country champion Amy Skieresz heads the women's line-up.

In addition to Skieresz, senior All-American Viola Schaffer, senior Holly Montoya and senior Ann Colonna return.
