What's Going On?

Tonight:

  • "Trees cause more pollution than automobiles do."

Happy birthday Ronald Reagan! And to celebrate the Great Communicator's 85th year on Earth, it's buck Schlitz night @ the Airport Lounge... If that isn't enough to cause Alzheimer's, Wafflebutt will be on hand to musically re-enact the invasion of Grenada for $2. 882-0400

Friday:

  • The great debate: is it legal to sleep on campus? I guess all the fans lining up for Dave Matthews/Tim Reynolds tickets (going on sale Saturday) will find out for sure.

  • Equally disturbing is the ominous presence of Ditchwitch on campus. These hard rockin' heavylifters headline an all ages show @ The Cellar with a hand from The Thumbs (Washington DC) and Tucson's own Fugue. 8:30 p.m.

Saturday:

  • Nope, it's not a misprint. After years of Tucson being a ska-free zone, two incredible shows come to town on the same evening. First up is the Ska Extravaganza featuring Mobtown, Dave's Big Deluxe, Giant Steps, and Warsaw. No CD out from the headliners yet, but our official ska guy, Rob O'Brien, is incredibly excited. This all ages event occurs @ 1030 N. Martin, and tix are $5. 8:00 p.m. But Rob's a traditional ska snob - for those of us who like more rockin' ska, Phoenix's Congoshock plays @ Third Stone the same evening for $4. 628-8844
