Presidents' memory should be celebrated

To the Editor:

The University of Arizona and the Arizona Board of Regents should be ashamed of themselves. On Monday, Feb.16, a very important day was celebrated in most to the nation's businesses, governmental facilities and even the Arizona public schools. While these institutions were able to honor the past Presidents of the United States, we college students were busy with exams, lectures and labs. This is not effective holiday recognition, for the leaders who molded this nation are not even included on our holiday calendar. To avoid honoring such men as Washington and Lincoln (and even Columbus) implys that these men are undeserving of our holiday time, while Martin Luther King, Jr. (also a great leader, but not of the caliber of Washington and Lincoln) is celebrated. It is time to get your priorities straight, UA Administration and Board of Regents, and honor the greatest leaders of our time.
