Vigil celebrated religious diversity

To the Editor:

I would like to extend heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the students of the Catholic Newman Center for their participation in the Holocaust Vigil held on the Mall Monday and Tuesday. Their attendance throughout the night and their profound show of emotion exemplifies precisely the primary tenants of the Vigil. Hitler's "Final Solution" attempted to eliminate diversity in an effort to create a master race of people. The coming together of religious and racial groups, celebrated by their participation, is our best weapon in fighting to end the type of misconceptions and social barriers that can cause such an incident to recur. With history as our guide, we can learn from one another's tragedies and revel in one another's triumphs for a better tomorrow.
