Arizona Daily Wildcat March 3, 1998 Baena leads Wildcats to third place finishThe Arizona women's golf team finished in third place over the weekend at the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational. The tournament was held at the University of Florida Golf Course in Gainesville. UA finished at 33-over par 877 - 12 strokes behind tournament champion Georgia - and six strokes behind second place Florida. Louisiana State finished in fourth place at 41-over par 885, and Mississippi finished fifth at 55-over-par 899.In the individual competition, the highest Wildcat finisher was junior Marisa Baena. Baena concluded the tournament in a tie for third place with Riko Higashio of Florida and Katy Wilkinson of Louisiana State at five-over par 215. The threesome was eight strokes behind medalist Julia Boros of Georgia, who finished at 3-under par 207. Boros was the only member of the 97-person field to finish under par. Arizona sophomore Jenna Daniels led the list of the four remaining Arizona golfers. Daniels finished in a tie for 10th place at 11-over par 221. Junior Krissie Register was next, in a tie for 13th place at 12-over par 222. Senior Heather Graff finished in a tie for 21st place at 14-over par 224 and freshman Christina Monteiro rounded out the Arizona golfers, placing 54th at 25-over par 235. The Wildcats return to action March 8 at the San Jose State Invitational held in Fort Ord, Calif.
