By Gary Bonhard Police neccesary in dangerous worldTo the Editor: This is in response to Ezekiel Buchheit's continuing escapades. I have been reading several of his so called stories over the past months. I started with "Bay of pigs" (Mar. 2) and after that began to read his "opinions" every once in a while. Now, I sit down to read that he got in trouble with the law and may go to jail ("Spring break, reality and other nonsense," Mar. 23). GOOD!!! I think it to be a little bit of ironic justice to be sent to jail, or even to get arrested, after writing such a load of trash. To say we need fewer police in a world of growing crime is a crime! The criminals are not declining, so why should the police? Ezekiel Buchheit also noted a story of being "harassed" by the police in which his friends were stopped by police and checked for drinking ("Bay of pigs"). He also mentioned that one friend was from another country and didn't understand the language so well. Well, Ezekiel, maybe you or your friends should not have put that person in such a situation!! If the police stopped them it was because they want to rid the campus of troublemakers and possible drunk drivers. We need police!! Sure, there are some bad seeds but they are not as common as the mass populace of criminals. Maybe the reason Ezekiel Buchheit doesn't want more police is so he can do more drugs or get some more friends in trouble. Well, Mr. Buchheit, I like a good party as much as the next person but I use some common sense. Maybe you should try that, it might help you get along with the police and everyone else. Gary Bonhard
