UA Runners qualify for NCAA's

The UA track and field teams returned to Tucson with a number of automatic and provisional NCAA qualifying performances over the weekend at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif.

The men received one automatic qualifier and three provisionals for the NCAA Championships. Over the 10,000-meters, junior Abdi Abdirahman finished fourth and automatically qualified. Freshman Patrick Nduwimana provisionally qualified after his 1:48.04 performance in the 800.

Senior Dominic Johnson won the pole vault while sophomore Jeff Dutoit was third. Both provisionally qualified for the NCAA's.

Junior Amy Skieresz automatically qualified when she finished third in the 10,000. Sophomore Carolyn Jackson won her division of the 400 in a personal-record time of 53.34 and sophomore Mandy Shefman posted a throw of 172-5 in the hammer. Both provisionally qualified for the NCAA's.
