Report: Woods wants to play at Arizona
Former Wake Forest center Loren Woods is expected to tell Arizona coach Lute Olson today that he wants to play for the Wildcats, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.
According to ESPN, Preston Thomas, Woods' high school coach, told the Post-Dispatch of the decision Wednesday night. Woods had fallen into disfavor with Wake Forest coach Dave Odom, who suspended the 7-foot-1-inch sophomore for nine games and said Woods was putting too much pressure on himself.
As a freshman in 1996-97, Woods averaged 6.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.5 blocks. Woods will sit out all next season after transferring, then have two years of eligibility remaining.
