Arizona Daily Wildcat September 30, 1997 Anderson to decide on Arizona todayPrized Arizona basketball recruit Ricky Anderson is expected to give his verbal commitment today to UA.The 6-foot-9 forward from Long Beach (Calif.) Polytechnic, who has said that UA is his number one choice, said he will contact head coach Lute Olson before making a formal announcement this afternoon. "I'm going to talk to Lute and then make my choice," Anderson said from his home last night. According to Hoop Scoop magazine, Anderson is the eighth-ranked power forward in the country. The addition of Anderson would give the Wildcats one of the top recruiting classes in the country. The Wildcats already have Traves Wilson of Moline, Ill., Richard Jefferson of Phoenix and Luke Walton of San Diego, Calif. Michael Wright of Chicago and Chris Richardson of Corpus Christ, Texas are also on the Wildcats wish list. Wright visited campus over the weekend. Richardson, who befriended Jefferson at the summer Nike Camp, will make a campus visit on Oct. 11. Verbal commitments are non-binding and UA coaches and players are not allowed to comment on recruits until signing day on November 12.
