Student safety is always a concern on college campuses across the country
and it is particularly on the minds of UA students.
With recent reports of an alleged rape and assault of a University of
Arizona student and a current investigation by university police of sexual
assault, the issue of safety has come to the forefront of students' minds.
Q: How safe do you feel on campus at night and on the weekends?
"I feel very safe. I don't sense any great danger
no matter what time of day. That's also because I am a guy I think."
Jason Kaywood
religious studies junior
"I feel really safe, too. I do run around here late at night."
Cynthia Picha
photography senior
"I wouldn't go out walking by myself after like 9 p.m. I feel safer
on my bike than walking after dark."
Patricia Healey
political science sophomore
"Usually at night I feel fairly safe around the Mall area. Once
I am outside the Mall area I don't feel comfortable at all and I will only
drive or call 621-SAFE."
Valeri Swan
sociology senior
