By John Brown Arizona Summer Wildcat August 27, 1997 One dead, two injured in collisionA 20-year-old man starting classes at the UA this fall was killed early Sunday morning in a three-vehicle collision about one mile north of campus, police said.Steven DeMarco was killed, and another UA student and a second man were seriously injured when they were ejected 20 to 30 feet from a late model Jeep Wrangler, Tucson Police said. None of the three men were wearing seat belts. Police said alcohol may have been involved, but autopsy results will be necessary to determine if DeMarco, who was driving the Jeep, had been drinking. Results will be available in a couple of weeks. The Jeep was traveling west on East Edison Street at 2:56 a.m. when it ran a stop sign and collided with a Honda Civic going north on North Park Avenue, police said. The Jeep then flipped over and threw all three men from the vehicle after hitting a parked car just south of East Grant Road. Police said DeMarco, of the 1100 Block of East Eighth Street, was killed when the Jeep rolled on top of him. Two of the passengers, Dave Lulenski, 19, a business administration student, and Ward Javoronok, 19, were taken to University Medical Center with severe head injuries and listed in critical condition late last night. DeMarco's roommate, Anthony Fiacchino was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries. The driver of the Honda, Anthony Pinkins, 38, also a UA student, was treated for minor injuries at Tucson Medical Center and released Sunday.
