Information fairs help guide students to graduate school

It is a stressful time for soon-to-be graduates hoping to continue their education, but information fairs over the next two days should shed some light on the process.

Kaplan Educational Testing Services is holding "Grad Nights" tonight and tomorrow to help students get on the right track to graduate school.

Tomorrow's event includes meeting the deans of the University of Arizona colleges of law and medicine as well as the graduate college.

Both events will be held in the Arizona Ballroom in the Memorial Student Union at 6 p.m.

Marylin Hemingway, Kaplan's community outreach coordinator for Arizona, said two Kaplan admissions experts will help students to streamline their application efforts.

Hemingway said her office has registered about 200 people for the event. Anyone not registered can do so at the door this evening. There is no cost to attend either meeting and participants need not be registered in a Kaplan course.

Laura Casper, anthropology and classics senior and Greek Life assistant for Kaplan, said the meeting is helpful because students receive packets of information like guides to graduate school. Students are given help with every part of the application process from cover letters to personal statements, she said.

Those attending will be guided toward what school is right for them and given financial aid information, Casper said.
