Sidelines

The defending national champion Arizona softball team is hosting the Arizona Fall Classic today through Sunday. The majority of the tournament games will be at Rita Hillenbrand Stadium on campus and additional games will be at Pima Community College. Arizona hosts a group of junior college and club teams from New Mexico, Western New Mexico, Arizona Western, Central Arizona, Pima College and clubs Sportstime and Hum-Babe.

Arizona is idle today, but plays at 2, 4 and 6 p.m. tomorrow and at 4, 6 and 8 p.m. on Sunday. All UA games are at Hillenbrand. Admission to all of the tournament games is free.

 

Briefly

Seventeen teams will face off at the 34th annual Stanford Women's Intercollegiate Golf Tournament starting today through Sunday in Palo Alto, Calif.

The 3rd-ranked Wildcats are part of an elite field that includes 10 of the top 25 nationally ranked teams by the latest Mastercard Collegiate Golf Rankings. The tournament is being held at the 6,190 yard, Par 73 Stanford Golf Course. The Wildcats dropped from No. 1 to No. 3 after finishing 7th at the Mercedes-Benz Championships in their last tournament.

Difference in total points given up by the Washington State defense compared to points scored in the second quarter alone by the Cougars on the season. WSU has exploded for 107 of its 245 points in the second quarter while only giving up 127 total points for the season thus far.
