Heritage Hall honors alumni

Amidst all the Homecoming celebrations this weekend is one structure that will remain standing long after the tents come down and the litter is swept away.

The UA Alumni Association is dedicating its tribute to UA alumni today, a Heritage Hall on the first floor of the Memorial Student Union.

In honor of the Alumni Association's centennial, its officials said they created the Hall to recognize the generations of alumni who have made the university the place it is today.

Sandra L. Ruhl, associate director of reunions and young alumni, said the Hall allows students to understand the impact of the alumni's roots at the University.

The Heritage Hall will be a permanent display of historical memorabilia reliving the history and traditions of the University since its founding, Ruhl said.

The dedication ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m., and invitations were extended to various campus representatives , supporters and funders of the Hall, said Nancy D. Yaeli, associate director of the alumni office.
