Over the weekend the UA women's club rugby team won the 24th Annual Ozark Rugby Tournament in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

The Wildcats outscored their opponents by a combined score of 197-10 over three games. In the women's club division, UA defeated Texas A&M 91-0, Kansas 48-5 and Missouri 58-5 in the championship match. Outstanding performances were turned in by Meghan O'Donnell and Sandra Chow while Heather Schaper and Corina Penrio were first-time scorers. The Wildcats have a 21-1 record to date.

Briefly

Tickets are still available for the "Battle of the Sexes" Gymnastics Challenge Thursday night at 7:30 at the Tucson Convention Center.

The U.S. Women's National team will face the U.S. Men's National team in an event to be aired Monday, Nov. 17 on ESPN from 7 to 9 p.m.

Participating for the women will be Kerri Strug, Shannon Miller, Dominique Dawes, Dominique Moceanu, Amanda Borden and Amy Chow.

The men's team includes Chainey Umphrey, John Roethslisberger, Kip Simons, Mihai Bagiu and John Macready.

Tickets are on sale at the Tucson Community Center, call 790-8024, and Dillard's Ticket Office at (602)503-5555. Prices for the remaining tickets are $12.50 and $16.50 with a $2 discount available to children and seniors.

Men's high school basketball players expected to sign a letter of intent today, the first day of the fall signing period, to play at Arizona for the 1998-99 season. UA has received verbal commitments from 6-foot-5 guard Ruben Douglas, 6-7 forward Richard Jefferson, 6-8 forward Luke Walton, 6-8 forward Michael Wright, and 6-3 guard Traves Wilson. A sixth signee could be 6-9 forward Chris Richardson, who has listed Arizona among his favorites, but has yet to make a decision.
