Men's volleyball travels to face No. 2 BYU
The UA club men's volleyball team will take a trip to Utah this weekend to test its skills against Utah Valley State College, who ranks in the Top 15 NIRSA poll, and No. 2 Brigham Young.
"BYU is apparently a very strong team," head coach Steve Carlat said. "Last year, the squad competed right along with them in a losing effort. But we're in a good position to beat them this year. I anticipate it to be a competitive match."
The Wildcats will first face Utah Valley at 4:00 tomorrow afternoon to be followed by the game against BYU Saturday night at 7:00, with both games being played in Provo, Utah.
"We're looking to go out and press them and beat them," sophomore outside hitter Andy Jaeckle said.
Knocking the Cougars off their game will be a big accomplishment for the Wildcats, and such an upset of an NCAA Division I team is not out of the question, as UA upset No. 1 UCLA in a Santa Barbara, Calif., tournament last month.
"We want national recognition," freshman setter Adam Dierstein said. "We don't want BYU - or anyone- to think UCLA was a fluke."- Kate Longworth
