Ignore ASUA elections, don't vote

To the editor,

As ASUA elections near, there are certain to be many important debates over important policy issues. Well, maybe not. But if these were real elections there would be. It seems to me that lost in all of the hoopla over election codes and Greek life is that ASUA is utterly meaningless, powerless, and nothing more than a socially elite club for people to liven up their resumes. Now, there is nothing wrong with socially elite clubs, as the Greek system will protest, and they do have their points. Our campus would be significantly less fashionable if there were no frats or sororities.

But when did any of this fashion or fake government become the least bit important? For anyone who is truly concerned with making a difference, or helping people improve their lives, I implore them to spend their time elsewhere.

There are many organizations around Tucson that do help people and are in need of volunteers.

This "election year," let's make a difference by not voting, not campaigning and ignoring the attention-starved spectacle that is ASUA.
