"I saved Latin. What did you ever do?" - Jason Schwartzman as overzealous student Max Fischer in "Rushmore."

Film

The following films open in Tucson this weekend:

Affliction - Based on Russell Banks' novel, "The Sweet Hereafter," this psychological tale of murder and isolation stars Nick Nolte and is directed Paul Schrader, who brought us "Taxi Driver" and "Raging Bull."

Jawbreaker - MTV's latest pet movie, this flashback to "Heathers" features rich, bratty high school girls with murder on their minds. Rose McGowan and Rebecca Gayheart do their best to convince us they're teens and Marilyn Manson makes a cameo.

October Sky - Based on a true story, this is the tale of Homer Hickam, Jr., a boy who seemed destined to life in a mining town but looked towards the stars, instead.

Office Space - Mike Judge ("Beavis and Butthead", "King Of The Hill") springs a live-action comedy on the public, all about the wacky world of daily work.

Rushmore - Max Fischer is a high school student with a scheming mind, a love for his teacher, and a battle with a local man (Bill Murray) for the woman's affections, in this offbeat comedy from the folks behind "Bottle Rocket."
