Arizona in third after day one
After day one of competition in Federal Way, Wash., where the Arizona women's swim team is looking to capture its first Pacific 10 Conference title, the UA swimmers find themselves in third place.
The Wildcats are behind 12 time champion Stanford who are far ahead of the pack with a score of 485. California just edged out the Arizona women for second, as they stand a half point in front of the UA swimmers 345-344.5.
Highlighting the day for Arizona was junior Trina Jackson. The defending Pac-10 champion in the 500-yard freestyle finished fourth in the event this year, with a time of 4 minutes, 46.24 seconds.
Entering the championships competition, the Wildcats had recorded the fastest time in the country in the 200 free relay. However, in the final for that race yesterday, the Golden Bear relay team touched just ahead of the UA women for the title.
Competition for Pac-10 titles resume today through tomorrow.
