Diggins leads baseball team to only weekend win over Tulane

Arizona freshman right-hander Ben Diggins led the Wildcats (16-8) yesterday to their only victory this weekend against Tulane (11-5) in New Orleans, a 9-3 triumph in which Diggins pitched a complete game.
The Wildcats rebounded from a 9-5 loss Friday and an 11-4 loss Saturday.
Diggins (3-1) went all nine innings, giving up three runs on eight hits while walking one and striking out eight.
Junior catcher Dennis Anderson hit his fifth home run of the season, a solo shot, while senior second baseman Andy Juday had a double and two RBI.
Sophomore first baseman Josh France hit a solo home run for the Wildcats' lone highlight Saturday as the Green Wave racked up 11 runs on 13 hits, three of which were homers.
Freshman right fielder Shelley Duncan hit his team-leading ninth home run Friday afternoon, but starter Josh Pearce was rocked for 12 hits and six earned runs in six innings in taking the loss.
Arizona returns home to open Pacific 10 Conference play this Friday against UCLA at 7 p.m. at Frank Sancet Field.
