Diamondbacks gracious to play Wildcats
To the editor,
I am writing in response to Jensen Karp's commentary entitled "Diamondbacks Bullied UA Baseball Team."
Here's a hypothetical situation. Michael Jordan asks Karp, "Hey, want to play a game of one-on-one?" If the opportunity arose, I'm sure Jensen would jump at the chance. Imagine playing the greatest basketball player of all time! Would Karp think of Jordan as a bully for showing him why he writes sports articles instead of playing sports? No, he would have thanked Jordan for contributing his valuable time to give him an opportunity of a lifetime.
Last Wednesday the Arizona Diamondbacks gave the Wildcats an opportunity. The two teams played an exhibition game where the proceeds went to cancer research. The Diamondbacks helped a good cause while graciously giving a bunch of young men the chance to measure themselves against the best of the best. Did the Wildcats think of the Diamondbacks as a bunch of bullies as you did? No, they were too happy getting the chance "To Play Michael Jordan" - something I doubt you'll ever do.
