Three UA track and field athletes picked up NCAA qualifying marks this weekend at the Willie Williams Classic.

The meet, which was hosted by Arizona, was a two-day competition with athletes from both collegiate and professional ranks competing.

"There were a lot of good performers," UA associate head coach Fred Harvey said. "To get the number of qualifiers that we did shows we're on the right track."

Sophomore Patrick Nduwimana earned an NCAA qualifying mark by winning the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 46.32 seconds. Nduwimana's time was the fourth fastest in UA history.

Junior Jeff Dutoit won the pole vault competition and picked up an NCAA qualifying mark with a vault of 17-feet, 4 1/2 inches.

Junior Carolyn Jackson finished second in the women's 400m, but still picked up an NCAA qualifying time of 53.32.

The women's 4x100m relay team of Ryan Peters, Brianna Glenn, Nicole Thomas and Carolyn Jackson won the event in a time of 45.78.

Sophomore Ola Larsen won the men's javelin throw with a mark of 221-feet, 9 inches, while teammate Christian Banken finished second with a throw of 208-2.

The Wildcats will resume competition Saturday when they host the Jim Click Shootout. UA will face Washington State and Nebraska beginning at 1 p.m.
