Trojans take 2 from Wildcats
From staff reports
Southern Cal used a six-run outburst in the fifth inning to come from behind to beat Arizona 8-5 yesterday, taking the rubber game of the series.
The Wildcats (20-11 overall, 3-3 Pacific 10 Conference) won Saturday 9-3 behind freshman pitcher Ben Diggins' complete game performance. USC (14-14, 5-1) smashed the Wildcats Friday 17-1.
UA starter Mike Crawford (2-4) was rocked for five earned runs on eight hits over four innings yesterday.
The highlight for Arizona was freshman Shelley Duncan's 11th home run, a new UA record for freshmen. Arizona took two of three games from UCLA to open the Pac-10 season last weekend in Tucson. The Wildcats next face Stanford this Friday at 7 p.m. at Frank Sancet Field.
