Junior Carolyn Jackson runs in a relay race last Saturday during the Jim Click Shootout track meet at Drachman Stadium. Jackson came in first in both the 200-meters and 400-meters.

A portion of the UA track team will travel to Austin, Texas, to compete in the Texas Relays April 1-3. Twelve UA women and nine UA men will compete against some of the best track programs in the nation.

"This meet is very competitive and we will be sending a strong team," UA head coach Dave Murray said.

Senior distance runner Amy Skieresz, a seven time All-American, was scheduled to return to competition at the Texas Relays but a sore left leg will keep her sidelined for the meet.

Skieresz had been rehabilitating an injury in her right thigh suffered during the 1998 cross country season, but this week, Skieresz began complaining about pain in her left leg.

"Amy is still having some trouble with her other leg," Murray said. "She won't compete at Texas Relays so we can just get her healthy enough to compete."

The meet begins today and will conclude Saturday evening.
