Every female child of the ¾80s can remember the moment she first saw Lloyd Dobbler holding a stereo over his head while it played Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes." Relive that moment when UAB Midnight Movie is "Say Anything," April 1 and 2 at Gallagher Theater. For the paltry price of $2.50 you too can swoon at the sight of John Cusack. Call 621-4678 unless you're monumentally busy.

Support fellow UA students vying for a $2,000 scholarship in the Green Valley Concert Association's Piano Competition at Valley Presbyterian Church, 2800 S. Camino del Sol, at 7:30 p.m. A free public reception, sponsored by KUAT begins at 6:30, and the concert itself is free for students if they come with their music teacher. Listen to the little song the telephone plays when you dial 648-5961 for more information.
Swing to the hepcat beat of Black Leather Zydeco and Crawdaddy-O when they play Nimbus Brewing Company, 3850 E. 44th Street, at 9 p.m. Throw on your saddle shoes, eat some jumbalaya and call 745-9175 for the big brass sound.
Clowns, trapeze artists, cotton candy and big ol' lions are part of the traditional circus. But the folks at Rialto Theater, 318 E. Congress, shun tradition. Thus, the Jim Rose Circus comes along at 9 p.m., with no trace of big tops or elephants. Tickets are $10 in advance, and $12 day of show, which is cheaper than an evening with P.T. Barnum. Call the Rialto at 740-0126 if you still want to know about the bearded lady.
Saturday, April 3
Madcap comedy and mirthful music abound when The Flying Karamazov Brothers' new show, "Sharps, Flats, and Accidentals" comes to Centennial Hall. A one-hour matinee at 2 p.m. will cost $10-20, and tickets to a full-length performance at 8 p.m. are $16-28, but don't juggle your rubber chicken away, they're all half price for students. See the music of Bach, Mozart, and Cole Porter as you've never seen it before after you call 621-3364 for more info.

You might best remember him as Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride, but Mandy Patinkin is also a Tony and Emmy Award-winning singer/actor. He will give a performance at Centennial Hall at 7:30 p.m. with accompaniment by Paul Ford on the piano. Tickets are $36-44, but those on a college student's budget can go for half price.
