"C" is For Cookie: Cookie's Favorite Songs
(Sony Music)

It seems like every artist is putting out some form of "greatest hits" release, despite how "great" those "hits" actually are. Well, it's about time another true musical giant saw a release truly worthy of such a moniker, and with the recent arrival of "C" is For Cookie, we can rejoice in the knowledge that that time has finally come.

The most notable song on this release is, of course, the world-renowned title track, the song which broke Mr. Monster as the true international singing star he is today. But songs like the grandiose "If Moon Was Cookie," and the mournfully poetic "Goodby Little Cookie," are proof of the diversity and consistent quality, as well as the magnificence, of the performer himself.

It isn't until the closing track, "Me Gotta Be Blue," that the true impact of the monster's depthful artistry strikes its most powerful chord. It's the kind of moment that makes one wonder not only where music would be without Cookie Monster, but where we ourselves would be.
