To the editor,

This letter is in response to the views expressed by Tatiana Covington in her April 1 letter "Kosovo airstrikes not worth it." I am horrified and sickened at her pitiful ignorance, and must wonder if she pays any attention at all to the news. Or is she simply one of those privileged, vacuous and totally uninformed people who have no reservations about spouting their ugly and inane views to anyone who will listen?

Tatiana, you ought to be ashamed of yourself. Would you have had the same response to Hitler's atrocities? Contrary to your empty-headed logic, the Kosovars are not "kill[ing] each other." Rather the Serbs are slaughtering innocent civilians; women, children and the elderly (are) included.

This isn't just my opinion, it is the same story, over and over again, coming from virtually every refugee currently fleeing Kosovo. I cannot help but wonder if you would feel the same if it were you and your family experienced rape, murder and (watching your homes burned), simply because of your ethnicity.

Furthermore, I have to question whether you are really a tax paying-citizen, or simply a spoiled and immature college student without a clue as to what is really going on outside of your privileged and protected life.

Last, in answer to your hateful and utterly ridiculous question, yes, I am absolutely willing and glad to see my tax dollars go to protecting these people. I, in fact, cannot think of any better use of my money. And I would hope that were the United States in such a position, others around the world would feel the same.
