Lame for a game is just that
To the editor,
"Lame for a game" at the University of Arizona lived up to its name. The event was indeed lame.
The public was able to view the scene and again on the nightly news the mock portrayal of disability in a circus-like act of disabled persons dressed in fat body suits rolling around the gym floor dressed as clown characters.
No wonder that we are told that the airlines continue to discriminate against disabled persons and students with disabilities are viewed as no more than a joke by some UA professors.
If I were a student at the University of Arizona, I would be frightened by its laughter and disdain for the sensibilities of others.
Let us all seek to change this clown persona given to local scholars with disabilities.
