DeRenne to rejoin USA national baseball team

The USA national baseball team, which trains in Tucson during the summer at Hi Corbett Field, invited 33 players to try out for the 1999 team yesterday.
Included in the group was Arizona sophomore shortstop Keoni DeRenne, who played for USA baseball last summer.
DeRenne is hitting a team-high .380 right now with two home runs and 48 RBI. He also leads the Wildcats in at-bats (208), runs (53) and hits (79).
Camp starts for DeRenne and the other college players June 8.
Also selected from the Pacific 10 Conference were UCLA pitcher Jon Brandt, Southern Cal shortstop Seth Davidson, UCLA pitcher Josh Karp, California third baseman Xavier Nady, Cal catcher Mike Tonis and pitcher Jason Young of Stanford.
