UA head coach Lute Olson announced that Robertas Javtokas, a 6-foot-10, 240-pound center from Lithuania, has signed a scholarship aid agreement to play for the Wildcats.

Javtokas, who is originally from Siauliai, Lithuania, prepped at St. Vincent/St. Mary's High School in Akron, Ohio. He did not play basketball in 1998-99 because of Ohio transfer rules and because he wanted to concentrate on academics in order to qualify for college eligibility.

He spent the 1997-98 season at Bishop-McGuiness High School in Winston-Salem, N.C. where he averaged 15 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks per game.

This summer, he will play on the Lithuanian National Team and will enroll at the UA as a freshman in the fall.

Javtokas is the fifth recruit to sign with the UA for the 1999-2000 season including freshmen Jason Gardner and Gilbert Arenas, junior college transfer Lamont Frazier and Indiana University transfer Luke Recker, who will have to sit out the season due to NCAA transfer rules.
