Keep sordid details out of Police Beat
To the editor,
While I'm sure the Police Beat provides both public information for the UA Community and more often amusing and unfortunate insight into human behavior, the description of yet another harassing phone call is beyond common decency.
I was wondering whether I was reading the Wildcat Police Beat or the Starr Report. The end result is the same, that is, there is more information contained in the report than is necessary to convey the factual events and findings. The salacious and reprehensible utterances which were printed serve no useful purpose.
A simple report that a student received a harassing phone call would suffice. The sordid extra may entice and titillate a few readers, but I surmise most find themselves disgusted.
And just maybe, you are providing a stage for some sick and idle minds to enjoy their perverted exploits.
I would ask that the UA Community no longer be subjected to such filth. Sure it's public information, but so what!
I would ask you to rise to a measure of professionalism and wisdom, and realize that the content of harassing phone calls is of no value to the campus-at-large.
