Greeks are everywhere
To the editor,
I am writing in response to the repeated ripping on of the Greek system that seems to be published every day. I am a senior and in the last four years I have numerous friends involved in the Greek system and several that are not.
Whether you are in a house or not the important thing should be not to judge people if you do not really know them. For the people who have a problem with them are you basing your judgment solely on one person or all of them? Maybe some of these facts might help you formulate a different opinion of them.
Did you know that:
Greeks compose 11 percent of the student population
The Greek community at the UA has raised over $42,000 and donated 24,000 hours of community service in the past year
The University of Arizona has one of the single largest and most active Greek communities in the PAC-10 conference
65 percent of leadership positions held on campus are held by Greeks
54 percent of the membership in class honoraries are Greek-affiliated
71 percent of the men in Who's Who are Greek
85 percent of Fortune 500 executives are Greek
76 percent of U.S. Congressmen are Greek
85 percent of the U.S. Supreme Court justices since 1800 have been Greek-affiliated
63 percent of all the U.S. president cabinet members since 1825 have been Greek!
