While Pima County attorneys lacked evidence to bring arson charges in the Alpha Tau Omega fire, a UAPD investigator said yesterday the case is still open.

Pima County Attorney Bill Dickinson charged former ATO member Brian Ross, 21, with theft, burglary and drug possession stemming from the arson investigation. The arson charges were dropped because of lack of evidence.

"UAPD is still seeking information that will assist us in determining the person or persons who committed the arson," said UAPD investigator Rolf Averill, who added that the case could be reintroduced if new evidence is discovered.

Averill said the case was still open and encouraged people with information to call 621-UAPD.
