The UA women's tennis team got back on the winning track with two straight victories in a row. UA blew Long Beach State away with a 9-0 victory Friday afternoon at the Robson Tennis Center, followed by facing the University of Nevada-Las Vegas Saturday. The Rebels managed to take one win, but were taken in every other way for a final score of 8-1.

UA freshman Lindsay Blau played in the top position for UA both Friday and Saturday and swept both days.

"I am definitely walking away with confidence from this weekend," Blau said. "I am also very happy for the support of my mom this weekend."

Against LBSU Blau swept Lara Spica 6-3, 6-0. On the second court UA senior Monique Allegre defeated Dianne Asis 6-2, 6-4. Playing third was sophomore Michelle Gough against Connic Burgraf, coming away with a 6-1, 6-2 victory. UA junior Vanessa Abel defeated Judy Esmero 6-3, 6-0. On the fifth court freshman Carly Stringer defeated Jessica Perico 7-5, 6-1. On the last court freshman Larisa Marino defeated Mellisa Hlebasko 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, on both days UA swept all three matches to take the winning point.

Saturday the Wildcats were almost as good, with only one match going the way of the opposition.

The only loss was on the second court with Allegre falling in a tough match against Katarina Malec 6-4, 3-6, 4-6.

In another win on the first court, Blau defeated Susie Kocsis 6-4, 7-5. Gough defeated Veronica Goude on the third court 7-5, 6-2. Abel defeated Marianne Baken 7-5, 6-2 on the fourth court. On the last court UA's Marino swept Britta Radanovic 6-0, 6-0.

The women's tennis team can next be seen Saturday Feb. 27 against archrival Arizona State at the Robson Tennis Center at 1 p.m.
