Talk about this story

Twice a year, the Fourth Avenue Merchants Association welcomes thousands of Tucsonans to the downtown area with arts booths, vendors and opportunities for those attending the event.

This weekend, Sands Spencer, the Merchants Association events director, said approximately 350,000 people visited the Fourth Avenue Spring Street Fair. Though admission was free, local non-profit organizations such as the Peace Corps and Casa de los Ni–os raised $50,000 to $70,000, Spencer said.

Many UA students joined the crowds, and the Wildcat asked what they enjoyed most about the fair.

"There's too many people, but the henna tattoos are cool, and I'm looking forward to seeing the musicians." Megan Laubach, music education sophomore
"I came to find some hemp jewelry and necklaces, but the best part was the sign that says, 'Only rain in the drain.'" Ericka Davis, criminal justice sophomore
"I've never been before, but my girlfriend dragged us out here on a mission to find bonsai trees. And we did - I had always wanted to own one." Ed Kirk, regional development senior
"The food is the best part - those big barbecued chicken legs. I also saw a tap-dancing old lady, and it was cool." Andy Snyder, architecture freshman
