Come check out the best of what the UA Art Department faculty has to offer all month in the UA Museum of Art. This is an annual event, sponsored by the UA Art Department, which showcases the best of what the department's instructors have compiled. The featured artist is David Christiana, who currently is the associated professor of graphic design and children's book illustrator. The display will be open on weekdays from 9 a.m. until. 5 p.m. and weekends from noon until 4 p.m. Call the UA Museum of Art at 621-7567 if you have any specific questions about the exhibit.
Think you have got the skills to be a top- notch swimmer? Come prove it at the intramural swim meet. Sign-ups begin today at noon with an entry fee of $7 per person or $25 for a medley team. The event is open to all students, so come out and showcase that breaststroke at the Recreation Center's pool. Sign-ups are all upstairs in the Rec Center, and will last until Oct. 14. Give the intramural's head honcho Brian Jacoby a call at 621-8723 if you have any questions.
The UA Writing Skills Improvement Program is here to help you become a better writer. Hosting a weekly workshop for students designed to help improve weak aspects of their writing, the program is open to all students ready to learn. This week's workshop is titled "Writing the Standard Paragraph" and is taking place tonight at 5 p.m. in Modern Languages room 310. Workshops are held every Monday, so if you can't make this one, you can always catch next week's installment. Contact Donna Rabuck for answers to all your writing questions at 621-5849.
Fall leadership workshops are beginning to help all interested students. Why take a leadership workshop you ask? Well, they can help instill confidence and give you a take- charge attitude that is so vital in today's work environment. The workshops are offered every Monday and Tuesday, at 3 p.m. in the UA Memorial Student Union's room 256. This week's feature is "Leading From Within" and is being presented by Dr. Nancy Huber. The International Affairs office brings a special presenter today at noon to the UA. Ambassador Hugo Paeman, head of the Delegation of the European Union, is here to give a speech on the "Future of Transatlantic Relations." Also sponsored by political science associate professor Paulette Kurzer, the ambassador is a part of International Relations' new lecture series titled "The Global Millennium."
