Women's golf enters final round in first place at TRW
From staff and wire reports The Arizona women's golf team continues to roll at the TRW Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif. After an opening day 4-over-par 288, the Wildcats shot 7-over-par yesterday and still lead the three-day tournament. Rounding out the top five are Southern California, Pepperdine, the University of Georgia and Arizona State. Team scores were unavailable at press time. UA Sophomore Cristina Baena, who led the tournament after posting a first-round 68, shot a 75 yesterday at the par-71 Palos Verdes Golf Club, dropping her into a tie for fourth place with teammate Christina Monteiro, a junior. Monteiro carded an even-par 71 to follow her 72 on Monday. Georgia's Shauna Estes leads the tournament at 4-under par. Other Wildcats on the leaderboard include senior Jill Gomric, who recorded a 74 and is tied for eighth place. Rebounding from an opening-round 80, senior Jenna Daniels shot a 71 to move her from 69th to 24th place. Freshman Julia Kraschinski is tied for 32nd after her second-round score of 5-over par. The third and final round of the tournament resumes today.
