Talk about this story

This Sunday, on the freakishly popular television show, "The Simpsons," a member of the Springfield community is going to die.

Who will die is a matter of speculation.

The buzz around the Internet is that it's going to be Maude Flanders, the wife of goody-God-shoes Ned Flanders. Others disagree, claiming that the delightfully clueless Principal Skinner will shuffle off this mortal coil.

Still others claim this is a publicity stunt for sweeps week.

The truth is, nobody knows for sure - except the wonderfully secretive people at the Fox Network.

To solve our quintessential quandary, Wildlife talked to people who, on average, don't run a television network - UA students.

We asked them who they think is going to die on "The Simpsons" and why.

"I think it's Apu because he's going to swallow the Slurpee that he's mixing up ÷ he just didn't blend it up enough and he gets an ice cube stuck in his throat."

Roger Koelsch
Hydrology Graduate Student

"I'm assuming Grandpa Simpson because it's time for him to kick the bucket."

Alice Moberg

"It's going to be Cletus, the Slack-Jawed Yokel, because, you know, he's a redneck, and the world can do without rednecks."

Jamie Dufault
Secondary education junior

"Marge will finally break her neck from all that heavy hair. It will snap her neck right in half."

David Ellis
English literature and creative writing junior
