The Park Student Center celebrated its new partnership with the Aramark Corporation today to mark the center's official move toward complete privatization.
And with this celebration, administrators of both the Student Union and the Park Student Center insist that this event does not foretell a food service change for food venues inside the Union.
Mark DeWeerdt, Park Center's student manager, stresses that a great working relationship exists between the University of Arizona and Aramark and they are looking forward to contining the relationship.
Although the center has been privatized, DeWeerdt said they still rely heavily upon students to staff the various venues inside the mini-mall as food preparers and cashiers.
One advantage for students working for Amarak rather than at other food service facilites is that Aramark is offering higher starting wages than the Student Union, he said.
The celebration consisted of a ribbion cutting ceremony, a live band, and free samples of food served at the newly renovated center.
