Go vote for intelligent ASUA candidates who support Escort Service

Editor:

After the primary election results, I became concerned over the future of certain campus services. Primarily, my concern rests with the ASUA Escort Service. There are some candidates who would lead us to believe that the Escort Service is understaffed, inefficient, and run by a "moron." I must question these assertions, as those candidates have, by their own admittance, never worked with the Escort Service nor seen how it operates. Instead, they make rash statements concerning the future of this highly valuable program in an attempt to appear knowledgeable and important. This kind of ignorant arrogance could very easily lead to the end of this program.

If you wish to help Escort Service, come up with practical solutions to the underfunding which is the primary source of all the program's current problems. Don't spout off about corporate sponsorship, it's been tried. Don't spout off about inefficiency, find another vehicle for the escorts to use so that one mini-van doesn't have to try to move 80-180 people in a 6-hour period. Don't spout off about the incompetence of the director, whose diligent and persistent efforts are the only reason that the Escort Service is still functional on this campus.

Please, don't be fooled by the arrogant presumptions of certain candidates vying for power within ASUA. The platforms have been published, read them. And please, if you value the Escort Service at all, vote for an intelligent candidate today and tomorrow.
