From staff reports

White House officials said yesterday that President Bill Clinton will visit Tucson next Thursday.

Officials have not confirmed if Clinton will stop at the University of Arizona, nor have they disclosed which locations the president will visit within Tucson.

But Roger Salazar, assistant white house press secretary, said Clinton's schedule does call for him to pass through Tucson.

During the brief stop-over, Clinton will talk with Tucsonans about Medicare and social security, said White House spokesman Joe Lockhart.

Clinton is scheduled to finish the day in San Francisco when he takes part in a fund raising dinner.

The visit would be Clinton's first to Tucson.
