CatCalls
Just in case you were experiencing a severe case of tunnel vision yesterday afternoon and missed the horde of vendors on the Mall, you will have a second opportunity to visit with these friendly merchants from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. If you can navigate your way through masses of fellow students and get to the booths, you will be rewarded with some unique merchandise choices.
No cash? No problem. You, too, can still enjoy the Mall experience - for free. Eat to the Beat is from noon until 1 p.m. Set your course west (i.e. toward Old Main) for musical entertainment. And if you can't make it to this show, be sure to catch the act tonight at Park Student Union for a Student Programs sponsored barbecue. Eat to the Beat will host Jupiter Dave from 5 p.m. until it breaks for the night. The pulse never stops.
You can also get some heart racing action tonight at Club Congress (311 E. Congress)! DJ H-Bomb will be spinning his choice of booty shaking records for 110 BPM, the club's weekly hip hop/acid jazz set. If you bring $1 and valid identification that says, "Yes, I am 21!" you can join the perspiring dancers. The dancing agenda begins at 9 p.m. and stops abruptly when bouncers ask you to leave at 1 a.m.
What's there to do after a long, hard day in class? Return to campus, of course! Student Programs, as part of the Wildcat Welcome, is hooking you up with a free movie at Gallagher Theatre tonight at 7:30 p.m. Seats are doled out on a first-come, first-served basis, so get in line early. The theater is featuring "Can't Buy Me Love," so you'll see a lot of 1980 groupies.
A smart cat knows how to balance work and play.
Are you one of the walking clueless when it comes to mechanical computation? Graphing calculator got you down? Information services to the rescue! "Calculator Basics," a free student lecture will help you fill the void in your technical knowledge and preserve your sanity. All potential techies meet from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in room 201 of the Physical and Atmospheric Sciences Building to commiserate and get in the know. Contact the Math Department at 621-6893.
