University police arrested a male student Thursday morning on suspicion of underage drinking.

A resident assistant of Hopi Residence Hall, 1440 E. Fourth St. called police at 3:16 a.m. to tell them that Hopi resident Tyler J. Dejarnette, 19, was highly intoxicated, police reports stated.

An officer went to the dorm and spoke with Dejarnette. The student said he had a lot to drink and wanted to sleep it off. The officer then cited him, reports stated.


A female student fell Thursday morning on the steps in front of the UA Associated Students Bookstore, 1209 E. University Blvd.

Police went to the bookstore at 9:30 a.m. to make sure the student was all right, and she complained to the officer of slight ankle pain, police reports stated.

Medics from Tucson Fire Department checked her ankle and decided to take her to the Student Health Center, 1541 E. University Blvd.

Reports did not indicate the student's condition after the visit.


An employee of a construction company reported a bandsaw stolen Thursday afternoon from the fourth floor of the Gould-Simpson Building, 1040 E. Fourth St., police reports stated.

At 3:38 p.m. the employee of the Foreman Apcon Construction Company, 3731 E. Chrysler Ave., told officers the company's $300 Milwaukee wide mouth bandsaw had been taken from a closet sometime between 6 a.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. Thursday.

According to reports, the employee told police he believed the closet had been locked and officers found no evidence of forced entry.


A student called police Tuesday to report his Zone 1 parking permit stolen earlier that day.

According to police reports, the student spoke with police at 3:51 p.m. and said he had parked his car in the Zone 1 lot on the corner of East Sixth Street and North Cherry Avenue at 9:30 a.m. When he returned at 3:20 p.m., the $160 permit was gone.

The student told police he returned to his car and noticed one of the back doors was unlocked, and said he couldn't recall if he had locked it before the theft occurred. He also told police there was no damage to his car, and it appeared there had been no forced entry, reports stated.


An officer on patrol Thursday night arrested a student on suspicion of reckless driving after he saw a silver Jeep Cherokee driving north at a high rate of speed on North Park Avenue.

According to police reports, the officer was on patrol at 10:39 p.m. at the Starmart on East Sixth Street and North Park Avenue, when he heard tires squealing. The officer saw smoke coming from the Jeep's tires and observed the back of the Jeep bouncing up and down.

The officer pulled the Jeep over at the intersection of Park and East Fourth Street and spoke with Anvil Prasad Nutakki, 20, of the 1200 block of East River Road.

Nutakki reportedly said to the officer, "I'm sorry. It's been a real bad day," and "It was stupid."

The officer cited Nutakki and released him.

According to reports, the officer returned to where the student had squealed his tires to see if there were marks on the asphalt but was unable to find any because of oil on the road.


Officers went to a student's house near campus Thursday after someone called to complain about loud music.

According to police reports, the officer arrived at the home, 1503 N. Highland Ave., at 9:45 p.m. and heard loud music. He spoke with the resident and told him to turn down his music and warned the student if he had to return for another complaint, he would be subject to arrest, reports stated.


Police were on patrol early Thursday morning at the corner of East University Boulevard and North Park Avenue when they found a student sleeping in the grass on the northeast corner.

According to reports, the student told police at 1:35 a.m. he was sleeping off a 12 ounce beer he had consumed earlier that evening.

The officers drove the student home, reports stated.
