A student was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving Friday afternoon after police saw him run a stop sign, police reports stated.

Officers saw a blue Toyota Corolla drive south on North Park Avenue and go through the stop sign at Park and East Second Street. Police pulled over the Toyota at 4:21 p.m. and asked the driver, Murat Dag, 19, for his identification.

According to reports, Dag was argumentative but told police he "didn't want any trouble."

Police noticed a case of Bud Light under the passenger's legs and smelled alcohol on Dag's breath, reports stated. Dag, a resident of Arizona-Sonora Residence Hall, 910 E. Fifth St., told officers he hadn't been drinking.

Dag told officers all five people in the car were under 21 and then admitted to drinking several beers earlier that day, reports stated.

He also told police he purchased the beer at a liquor store on North Stone Avenue and East Speedway Boulevard, reports stated.

Officers took Dag to UAPD and tested his blood alcohol level twice, getting measurements of .164 and .151.

A false Arizona identification with Dag's picture but a different name on it was found in his possession.

Dag was cited on suspicion of failure to stop at a stop sign, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, driving with a blood alcohol level higher than .10, possession of false identification and underage drinking.

A witness who was in Dag's car told police he saw Christopher Alan Leonard, 18, of Phoenix, drink one beer in the car. The witness said he did not drink nor did he see anyone else consume alcohol.

Leonard was cited on suspicion of underage drinking and released, reports stated.

A Tucson man was arrested on suspicion of giving a false name to officers Monday night after he was seen running with a bicycle tire, police reports stated.

An officer saw the man going south on North Tyndall Avenue at 8:39 p.m. but was unable to stop because he was en route to Pima County Jail, reports stated.

Another officer located the man, Zacharia Castillo, 25, of the 100 block of North Tyndall Avenue, and told him to stop running. Castillo ignored the officer and continued until he was stopped at the corner of Tyndall and East Ninth Street.

According to reports, the officer asked Castillo his name, and he said, "Mike E. Castillo." Police checked the name, but found no corresponding police record.

The officer asked Castillo his name again, and he said, "Zack," and then said, "Zack, Mike, same thing," reports stated.

Castillo then told police he was going to get air for the tire and then his mother arrived. She told police his name was Zacharia, reports stated.

Castillo was cited and released.

A Parking and Transportation Services employee called police Monday evening after spotting what he believed was a counterfeit parking permit inside a car, police reports stated.

The employee told police he saw a tan, 1978 Volkswagen Beetle parked in a Zone 1 lot at 6:39 p.m. The Beetle had been "booted" because of the suspicious permit, reports stated.

Police spoke with Jonathan Francis Barr, 19, of the 3200 block of East Fort Lowell Road, who told police he bought the permit from a friend at a party two months ago for $20, reports stated.

Barr told police he thought something was wrong with the permit when he compared it to a Zone 1 permit from Parking and Transportation and noticed differences, reports stated.

He also told police he threw the permit into dumpster after he saw the boot on his tire, but told police he did not understand why his car had been immobilized in the first place.

Police searched the dumpster but were unable to find the permit, reports stated.

Barr was arrested on suspicion of fraudulent schemes and booked into Pima County Jail.

A man was taken into custody by Border Patrol Monday morning after UA police pulled him over for running a red light.

According to police reports, the man was pulled over at the corner of North Campbell Avenue and East Enke Drive at 6:34 a.m.

The man told police he had no identification, but gave the officer his Immigration and Naturalization Services number. The number he provided to the officer did not match up with his name and he was then taken into custody by Border Patrol.
