Arizona women's soccer season got off to a rocky start, as the Wildcats dropped two games this weekend in Tennessee

The Wildcats lost 5-1 to the University of Tennessee on Friday and were outshot 23-14. Tennessee scored three times in the first 35 minutes, one goal in the 64th minute and one in the 81st minute.

Wildcat junior Twila Kaufman broke the shutout at 84:05 when she nabbed the ball in a scramble in front of the net and scored for the lone Arizona goal.

The goal was the sixth of Kaufman's career and moved her into a tie for seventh place in the UA career goal-scoring list.

Sophomore defender Naomi Chu had a three shots on goal while junior forward Kristi Lorona and junior midfielder Tiffany Sabado each had two attempts.

In the net, Shannon Monti had a difficult time, letting in five goals while making only one save.

Volunteer goalies Ellen Dean and Kim Sgarlata both played in the contest and made a combined six saves against the Wildcats.

The Wildcats tried to rebound from Friday's loss by taking on Vanderbilt, Sunday, but was shutout 4-0, moving them to 0-2-0 for the season.

The Commodores outshot Arizona 19-2, with Lorona attempting the Wildcats' both shots on goal.

Vanderbilt's first goal came six minutes into the game, while their other three goals were in a 17-minute span in the second half.

Monti played the entire game in net for the Wildcats, earning five saves.

The Commodore's keeper Stacee Sproul earned the shutout, improving Vanderbilt to 2-2-0 in 2000.
