Oregon's Jenny Mowe (34) battles for position under the basket against Arizona's Veranda James (22) in the second half at McArthur Court in Eugene, Ore., Saturday.

From staff and wire reports

The Arizona women's basketball team will most likely not make the NCAA Tournament for the first time in five seasons.

The unranked Wildcats (18-10 overall, 8-8 Pacific 10 Conference) fell for the seventh consecutive time on the road this weekend, losing to Oregon, 83-78, in Eugene.

The Ducks, who won their third straight game, were led by junior guard Jamie Craighead.

Craighead was 6-of-15 from behind the three-point line, establishing the school record for 3-pointers in a season with 75.

"(Arizona) kept packing it in the zone," Craighead said. "Knowing they were going to sag in, we had to keep shooting. I wasn't in a (scoring) zone. I had to shoot way too many to get the ones I did."

With 2:28 left in the first half, UA sophomore guard Krista Warren suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear in her right knee, ending her season.

"Playing here is tough, and having Krista (Warren) go down really hurt us," UA head coach Joan Bonvicini said. "Losing Krista hurt us because she was playing really well. After that, we had to change our rotation."

Filling Warren's void was freshman guard Aimee Grzyb, who finished with 12 points on 4-for-7 shooting from behind the three-point arc.

The Wildcats were led by senior guard Reshea Bristol, who finished with a game-high 23 points, 10 assists and five rebounds. Bristol, who had struggled recently with turnovers, had just two in the game.

The Wildcats led 50-46, courtesy of a Reshea Bristol jumper with 11:18 remaining in the second half. The Ducks then went on a 17-5 run, sparked by Angelina Wolvert's five points down the stretch.

With 2:06 remaining, the Wildcats cut Oregon's lead to 73-69, but back-to-back three-pointers by Craighead put the game out of reach.

"We got good production, and our 3-2 zone did outstanding, but they just shot us out of it," Bonvicini said.

The Wildcats were also abused on the glass, getting out-rebounded 38-24, including a 15-4 Oregon edge on the offensive end.

"We talked about how defense was going to win this game and how we couldn't let them get second looks," Oregon head coach Jody Runge said.

Wildcat junior forward Elizabeth Pickney finished with a team-high six rebounds along with 16 points.

Arizona will return to McKale Center Thursday when they play host to Pac-10 opponent Stanford.
