If you're a UA faculty or staff member who has some questions about just what goes on around here and why, then the Association for Women Faculty may have some answers. The Association is holding a panel discussion on "How The University Structure Works: The Inside Story" today at 1:15 p.m. The panel, held in the Shantz Building, Room 242E, runs for an hour. For more info, visit www.uanews.org.

Diversity is more than just an ASUA campaign promise, it's also the subject of a student panel discussion today. "Diversity: Students' Perspectives" is part of the Building Academic Community Speaker Series and will be held in the Memorial Senior Ballroom of the not-quite demolished Student Union. It runs from 12:15 p.m. until 2:30 p.m., so there is plenty of time to get there. Sue Robinson can answer any questions about the discussion, and she can be reached at 621-4092.

Whether you're a senior with a bad case of senioritis or a sophomore not quite ready to come back from spring break, the Learning Strategies Workshop: Motivation and Goal Setting can help you. The workshop, in Room 201 of Bear Down Gym, starts today at 2 p.m. and runs for an hour. If you make it your goal to show up, you're already ahead of the game. If you're motivated enough to call 621-4548, Karen Gutierrez can provide more information.

Roses are red, violets are blue... If you'd like to hear poetry a bit more sophisticated, come to the Modern Languages Auditorium tonight at 8. The Poetry Center, as part of its 2000-2001 reading series, is spotlighting the city of San Francisco by bringing three of its poets. Beth Lisick, David Breskin and Ariana Waynes will all be here tonight to share their verse with us. Frances Shoberg can give you even more information on tonight's reading, and she can be reached at 321-7760.

UA departments of English and history, the religious studies program and the Medieval, Renaissance and Reformation Committee unite to sponsor tonight's Annual Town and Gown Event, taking place at 7. "The Reformation and Birth of England: The New England" will be discussed during the lecture, and audience members

will have the opportunity to ask the leading professors questions. For more information on this forum, held in the UA College of Law, call Luise Betterton at 621-1284.

The Weekly Writing Workshop concludes its discussion of text-in-context essays with today's installation, "The Concluding Paragraph." Beginning at 5 p.m., the lecture covers effective techniques for writing a conclusion to your paper. The lecture, in the Modern Languages Building, Room 204, is part of the free weekly writing improvement series. For more information, call Donna Rabuck at 621-5849.
