Congressmen bet on Michigan State-Arizona game

By The Associated Press

WASHINGTON - The congressmen who represent the University of Arizona and Michigan State University are bringing the NCAA basketball rivalry to Capitol Hill.

In the tradition of congressional tournament bets, Reps. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., and Jim Kolbe, R-Ariz., wagered a "hat day" on tomorrow's NCAA tournament semifinal game.

The lawmaker who represents the losing team will wear a hat from the winning team's school on Tuesday.

"The losers will be going home with their hats in their hands," Rogers said.

Michigan lawmakers benefited from the defending champ's success last year. Rep. Dale Kildee got a lunch of cheese and bratwurst after a semifinal win over Wisconsin and Sen. Carl Levin received a box of oranges after the championship game win over Florida.
