A Tucson man was arrested Monday for stealing two bicycles from the UA campus.

A building monitor at the Speech and Hearing Sciences building, 1209 E. Second St., said he witnessed Felix Guerrero Sanchez Jr., of the 300 block of West 29th Street, steal an orange bicycle from the bed of a truck parked outside the campus building, reports stated.

An officer then saw Sanchez riding an orange bicycle north on North Fourth Avenue and pushing a blue bicycle alongside him, reports stated.

The building monitor waived down the officer and said he had witnessed Sanchez steal the bike he was riding 15 minutes earlier, reports stated.

The officer made a U-turn and approached Sanchez. He told Sanchez he thought is was strange that he was pushing another bike, reports stated.

Sanchez responded, "Yeah, you'd think, huh, but it's my girlfriend's bike," reports stated.

The officer told Sanchez that a witness saw him steal the bike he was riding, but he denied it, reports stated.

Sanchez said he picked up the bike for his girlfriend and was bringing it to her work, reports stated.

When the officer asked if he could call Sanchez's girlfriend to confirm that it was her bike, Sanchez agreed but said he did not know her phone number. In addition, Sanchez did not know his girlfriend's address when the officer asked where she lived, reports stated.

In the meantime, the owner of the orange bicycle reported his bike missing and agreed to meet the police officer to identify the bike, reports stated.

The owner of the orange bicycle provided a bicycle registration receipt with a serial number that matched the one on the orange bike, reports stated.

The officer read Sanchez his Miranda rights and handcuffed him. He was sent to Pima County Jail, reports stated.

An earlier missing bicycle report matched the blue bike, reports stated.

A UA student was arrested yesterday for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia in his campus dorm room.

Gregory R. Schmicker, 19, was arrested in his room in Pinal Hall, 1511 E. Sixth St., for possessing a clear plastic baggy containing a green leafy substance rolled into a cigarette, and a pack of Zig-Zag rolling paper, reports stated.

A Pinal Hall resident assistant told the reporting officer that Schmicker's roommate saw Schmicker in possession of marijuana, reports stated.

The officer made contact with Schmicker and asked him to produce any marijuana he had in his possession, reports stated.

Schmicker gave the officer the plastic baggy and the officer saw the rolling paper in plain view on the student's desk, reports stated.

The officer asked Schmicker if there was any other marijuana in the room and the student said, "No, I used the last of my marijuana to roll up some cigarettes," reports stated.

Schmicker was cited and released at the scene. The contents of the baggy were sent to the Department of Public Safety lab for examination, reports stated.

An unknown woman was seen yesterday vandalizing a UA traffic control device.

A UA student told police that he saw a woman in her 60s vandalize the traffic control device in campus lot 5066, 922 E. Fourth St., located outside Kaibab-Huachuca Residence Hall, reports stated.

The student said the woman was driving a white Ford Expedition, reports stated.

The woman pulled into a reserved parking space which had a red metal barrier used by the UA as a traffic control device, reports stated.

The woman then pulled out of the space, broke the barrier device and drove away, reports stated.

A UA student reported Sunday that he thought his ex-roommate was stealing items from his dorm room.

The student said his Game Boy, valued at $79, three games, valued at $75, and $120 in cash disappeared from his room in Cochise Residence Hall, 1018 E. South Campus Dr., during the semester, reports stated.

The student said his ex-roommate, who moved out earlier this semester, was the only one with access to the room, reports stated.

The student told the officer he was not aware of where his ex-roommate moved to or what his phone number was, reports stated.

The reporting officer asked the student if he had ever caught his ex-roommate stealing his missing items. The student said, "No," reports stated.
