Despite nationwide efforts to reduce hate crimes, racist killings, schoolhouse shootings and homophobic attacks continue to dominate the media. Come learn the motives behind these crimes in a documentary that features the death of Matthew Shepard, the Columbine shooting and the dragging death of James Byrd. Filmmakers Brent Scarpo and Martin Bedogne are taking their film to campuses nationwide to educate students about the hate crimes that have captured national attention. Festivities celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month continue at the Arizona State Museum tonight with their "Rare Glimpses" workshop series. Tonight's program focuses on Maiolica pottery, with Florence Lister, the museum's research associate, using example's from the museum's collection to discuss the European earthenware tradition brought to the Southwest by the Spanish. The workshop takes place in Room 309 of the Arizona State Museum and starts at 7 p.m. The two-hour program costs $25 for museum members and $30 for non-members.

You always hear Oprah talking about how great journal-keeping is, and now the Writing Works Center class is preaching the same thing. What's all this hoopla about? Stop by the University Services Building at 6:30 tonight for a workshop that will show you how journaling can help with problem-solving, organizational skills and goal planning.
